A Moonlit Monument

So this is my first real landscape-esque piece. Last summer my family and I visited Arches National Park.  It's funny because I've lived in Utah most of my life but have never gone to one of it's most iconic National Parks.  But we finally went and got this photo of Delicate Arch.  Though we went in the evening so I added in the moon and changed the lighting a bit.  I like the night view though it seems to add to the dramatic feel of the impressive natural monument.  It gets me excited to work more on landscapes and more broad views. I've kind of focused on close up and macro stuff in the past.  It gets me excited because I've actually been planning a new series of works that are really going to test my skill and creativity here soon, but more on that to follow.

Lots of big news this week.  I survived another semester and am officially done with all my general classes! You have no idea how awesome that feels, but then again, maybe you do.  I'm also getting my studio set up and am getting ready to be a full time artist, which means that I'll really be able to start working on content and making this blog more fun to look at and to read through which I'm pretty stoked about.  Right now I've been working on art in bits and pieces here and there so I'm excited to get into it full time.  To celebrate my wife even got me a drawing tablet for my computer which is awesome because I've been wanting to delve into the digital medium for some time now.  So we'll have lots of stuff coming in the next few weeks.  Thanks to all of you who have been checking on here each week.  To be honest the move from working at a "real job" full time to working as an artist full time is, quite frankly, terrifying.  But I've decided that life is just to short to merely make a living instead of really living.  I appreciate everyone's support and encouragement that makes this all possible.
